Domain Whois

Domain registration data (RDAP) and DNS records at a glance.

What this domain WHOIS tool does

Enter a domain name to see its registration data via RDAP plus its live DNS records in one view. RDAP returns the registrar, creation/updated/expiry dates, domain status codes (e.g. clientTransferProhibited) and the authoritative name servers. Alongside it we resolve the A/AAAA/MX/NS/TXT records so you can sanity-check the zone at a glance.

"WHOIS" remains the familiar word, but the data here comes from RDAP, the structured protocol that ICANN designated as the official source for gTLD registration data from 28 January 2025. For separate record queries use the DNS lookup; for the registrant of an IP use the IP lookup.

Frequently asked questions

Why do some domains return "no RDAP record"?

Not every TLD operates an RDAP server yet, and some ccTLDs expose only legacy WHOIS or a web form. When RDAP is unavailable we still show the DNS records so the lookup is not wasted.

Where is the registrant's name and email?

For most domains personal contact data is redacted for privacy (post-GDPR), so RDAP returns the registrar and status but not the registrant's details. You can usually reach the owner through the registrar's abuse or transfer process.

What do status codes like clientTransferProhibited mean?

They are EPP status codes set by the registrar or registry to control the domain lifecycle — for example preventing transfers or deletions. They are normal protective locks, not signs of a problem.
